The University of Essex wanted to showcase the University’s facilities and raise the profile of their research offering to students, the academic community and business. The facilities are not all located within the same geographic area but the University wanted to show that all the facilities are linked together via their Knowledge Gateway.

The Brief
The Approach
From the start of the project, there was a real desire to provide users with an interactive experience for the ten facilities stretching over five categories that the University of Essex needed to promote.
The incorporation of an in-page navigation element on the home page which provides the ability for users to flick through the various categories was introduced in a bid to provide an overview of the availability before delving too deep into the content. The use of the mega menu was also produced to enable users to find a service or facility within one click from arriving on the site.
